SPRAY / PRINTING / LASER

Surface finishing for high end products.

Adding artwork, legends or full surface cover using spray, printing and laser techniques gives you the highest design flexibility.
Plus a cost-effective way of producing with Abatek.

Spray / Laser techniques
Silicone parts can be lasered for lighting or coloring options

  • Manual wet spray booths
  • Automatic wet spray lines
  • Automatic powder coating lines
  • Laser etching gives a high degree of design freedom. It also allows creating “night design”.
  • Laser etched legends can comprise up to 3 layers of artwork and/or colors

Printing

  • Almost any color or design can be applied to the surface
  • Silk screen printing, pad printing or ink printing can be used
  • When the keys need to be illuminated, positive or negative silkscreen printing can be applied over clear or milky-white silicone
  • This is a cost-effective way achieving backlighting compared to laser etching

COATING

Surface sealing is crucial to ensure the durability and abrasion resistance of the printing inks on silicone keypad.

Without sealing, mechanical stress, chemicals or UV radiation can cause the lettering to fade or wear off quickly.

SealPlast also makes the surface very easy to clean and contributes to the visual and tactile quality of the end product.

SealPlast

  • Sealplast is developed and exclusively offered by Abatek
  • Abrasion resistance >20m with 2.5N
  • Antistatic
  • Treated surfaces are available from matt to semi-gloss.
  • Protection against oil and chemicals
  • Easy to clean
  • -40 to +80°C

Abatek also offers standard coatings like silicone and PU coating

    SURFACE STRUCTURE

Impress with choices of shapes and even different structures jointless next to each other!
Also tactile feel next to capacitive brushed surface structures is possible.

    • A solution for jointless surface structures like high gloss, matt, polished, brushed or wood
    • 2D or 3D shape
    • Materials from soft to hard
    • Self-healing
    • Extremely durable in different colors
    • Hard surface with a flexible base

      LIGHTNING

Light gives so many positive effects!

Lighting is increasingly important for successful branding and function of products.
Applications require general back and / or functional lighting.

Abatek has an innovative portfolio of technologies. All designed to support and develop
the shape of both attractive and functional lighting solutions.

Welcome to be inspired by some examples below and discuss new ideas or
improvements with your nearest Abatek representative.

      LED Windows
Are almost non-transparent silicone units on the side wall still preventing light leakage.
Mainly used for window indicator LED’s: The LED window being very thin it almost appears transparent.
This characteristic is used to design a sealed window for indicator LEDs.

      Light Pipe
Alternative: A light pipe acrylic glass instead of silicone can be inserted into the keypad.

      Night Design & Dead Front
This multi-technology only works when the light is switched on and the function/information is visible.
Known as Night Design / Dead Front Panel it uses the “Disappearance Effect”.
When the light is switched off, all illuminated areas are no longer visible. What remains is a homogeneous surface. Abatek offers the Black Panel Solution as a stand-alone or as part of a complete design.

      Light Foil or Light Sheet.
Bring out the light appearance for areas or segments whilst reducing the number of LEDs.
A Light Guide Film (LGF) or Sheet (LGS) optimizes use of energy and overall cost.
Each LGF or LGS not only reduces the number of LED's usually needed but also spreads light more efficiently where desired.
In conclusion: Fewer LED's means less energy consumption and less heat.
